WHAT IS A MOFONE?

The Mofones utilize already existing phone components wherever possible and are constructed by hand in Los Angeles. The retro style phone accessories are fitted with a special iPhone case, which locks onto the phone and attaches it to the unit. The iPhone can then be snapped into and out of the case so customers can mix and match their Mofones based on their moods. Mofones are ornamental and the iPhone functions otherwise exactly the same. The Mofone creates superior grip when texting and offers increased comfort, allowing the user to lean hold the phone on their shoulder just like in the good old days.

Mofone has always been about reimagining functionality and fashion, said designer and Mofone CEO Morrisa Maltz. These affordable accessories allow me to bring my vision to the masses and are just the first in what will be a large offering from Mofones.

Mofone was founded by Los Angeles artist Morrisa Maltz to take the mobile accessory and turn it into a work of art. Her products were available on her website and Etsy.com and garnered a select following of tastemakers. Spotted by a buyer for Urban Outfitters, what started as an art project for a select few is now available at tenderproduct to everyone who wants to bring fun and whimsy into their everyday lives. Mofones uses oversized and usually ridiculous artist made designs, tapping into the history of technology, to create our products. Mofone’s is a completely artist run company and employs artists in all departments as part of its creative strategy.

Tenderproduct is pleased to present You Can, a new window exhibition by John Youssef. The You Can installation employs the symbolism of candles as part of a revisioned campaign of optimism. Candles are self sufficient, practical and useful, they shed light, represent clarity, rebirth, truth, hope and transparency. For Youssef, ‘In a culture where the real and oracular messages are eclipsed by advertising and wealth, we have the pure presented to us in the form of something mainstream and digestible.’ You Can investigates this concept: Candles as cans = Can-dle.

Youssef’s exhibition flitters between reality & dreams, necessity & consumption and even form & function. You Can – a two part window exhibition employing matches and Can-dles – a manifesto on lightness, positivity and potential.

John Youssef is a visual artist and writer based in Yorkshire. He was born in Canada the year Ghostbusters was released and has spent most of his life in England. In recent years he has worked and exhibited overseas. Youssef’s work relies on the candid and the literal, he takes great pleasure in creating work that disguises the ancient as something more modern, camouflaging itself in the everyday.

Youssef’s Can-dles will be available at Tenderproduct from 9 November. The artist handmakes and pours each Can-dle. They come in two different sizes/versions and are part of a limited run. He has also created bespoke packaging for each Can-dle including, a leaflet on the impact of light, as well as a single match. For Tenderproduct there will also be an exclusive limited red candle edition available. Can-dles will be available for purchase throughout the exhibition and also afterwards during the run up to the holidays. The You Can exhibition runs from November 9 – 22.

Youssef’s Can-dles are available here http://tenderproduct.com/online-shop/

Hi Failure is an exhibition of new work by Sebastian Craig. The curated window display launches two new design objects available for purchase at tenderproduct: Future Grass and Minimal Object. Originally developed after a dream that Craig experienced some time in 2003, Future Grass is a multi-purpose design object as well as a small patch of green artificial turf. Minimal Object (Decorative Gate) is a miniature electromagnetically-sensitive portable sculpture. It responds to the coincidental generation of what Craig calls an “entry point” (electromagnetic signal) and marks it with suitable austerity—making the invisible, visible via a sequence of flashing light.

Hi Failure also documents Sebastian Craig’s experimental journeys through a range of design disciplines. Craig’s work is generated through auto-didactic trial and error. He has an ongoing interest in the crossover between language and architecture and the ways in which each of these coded mediums can function as the other, a quality he has exploited within the product shop’s window space.
